The rest of my trip, my 4 nights in Miami also went well. Again, because I was around my sister and wife the entire time. I was surprised to find that when I got to my sister’s house where we were staying, they had moved the liquor stash from a cabinet on to the kitchen counter. I thought that this might be a test. Actually, I am still not sure.
Anyway, I was lucky enough to arrange to be the only one sleeping downstairs the first night and I helped myself to a nice big shot of Grey Goose (vodka) to wind down the day. On Sunday I drank nothing during the day and on Monday I had one beer. At night time I think I had a glass of wine with dinner and snuck another shot at night time from the liquor on the counter.
On Tuesday, however, my wife and daughter went shopping while I went to the beach. I picked up a half pint of vodka (what is really a 375 ml I think) and a beer to go with the cigar I already had. I consumed all over the course of about 4 hours and had a nice buzz. It was a good day.
Now, the bad news. While I feel the week in Florida went very well, I overdid it on the first weekend back. Not sure why, maybe it was because I felt cheated on my vacation, but I decided not to start counting again until this week. I ended up having around 5 drinks on Friday, 7 on Sat and probably 6 more on Sun. Plus, I had one drink a night on Wed and Thurs. That puts me at 20 for the week, 5 over.
Good news is I am back on track this week having gone dry Mon-Thurs. Tonight is Friday and I am ready for a drink. However, I have a ton going on right now. Business is very busy. I have to prepare taxes to meet with my accountant on Tuesday. I am preparing for a speech contest on Thursday. And, finally, I am investing with 2 partners in an expansion of my current business which means daily interactions with accountants, attorneys, my partners etc. The good news about that is that keeping busy keeps me from overdrinking.
